Finance

This week, we did a cluster in Finance. My two careers that I choose for this cluster was a Financial Examiners, and a Credit Checker. Some similarities they have critical thinking, math, law and government, English language. Some differences they have are a Financial Examiner has to look through all of the regulations, and examine them. Also, they make about $78,000 annually. A credit checker investigates the history and credit standing of people or businesses. They also have to obtain information about the applicant's credit standing.  Credit Checker makes about $38,000 annually. These careers are not for me, nor is the cluster. In my opinion I think that it would be rather boring.

Government

The week we researched two careers in Government. My two careers I picked were a Mapping Technicians, and a Political Scientists. Some similarities they have are they have to do with the government, obviously. The Mapping Technicians have to calculate map making information from field note, and draw and verify accuracy of topographical maps. The Political Scientists study the origin, development, and operation of  political systems. May study topics, such as public opinion, political decision-making and Ideology. May analyze the structure and operation of governments. You need a lot of training for both jobs. Also, you need to know your geography, an active learner. Understand what you need to do, or what people are asking you to do. The money is quite different though, for a mapping technicians, you make about $50,000 annually, and for a Political Scientists you make $102,000 annually.

Also, we went back to our true colors thing, and picked a career from our Opposite Career. Also, we have to pick some things about our true color that would help us with our opposite color.

My True Color

Yesterday a lady came in named Sally. She gave us these little books that we had to fill out to find our true color. It asked us questions and we had to answer them. I figured out my true color which happens to be orange. We went around and talked about everyone's true color. Orange means a like to compete, I consider life as a game, I like to be hands on, and I'm someone who likes to have a little fun. Also, I'm very hyper, talkative, I like to have freedom, I like to be surprised. I like to be direct and immediate. My second color happens to be blue. Which means I like to feel unique, I look for a meaning in life. I value my relationships with anyone. I love to be helping people any way I can. I'm affectionate, romantic, and a good listener. I'm always happy and loving. I love making others happy, and doing anything I can to reassure their happiness. Also, I'm a very enthusiastic person. These go well with what I want to be; A social worker, because I get to help people anyway I can. I also get to deal with them hands on. I need to make sure they're safe, and away from anyone that causes any harm. So, I think this career would fit me well.

True Colors

Today we talked about True Colors. We have to find four teachers and friends and state what we think their colors are and why. My teachers are Mr. Boyars, Mrs. Hewitt, Mrs, Rigdon, and Mrs. P. Mr, Boyars is more of a green, because he's calm, he always help the students when they need it, he never seems to get mad (at least around students). I think Mrs, Rigdon is an orange because she's always up and hyper, she has a good way of getting people's attention, she's always trying to get students excited about Spanish. Also, she's always moving, and walking around. Mrs. Hewitt would be a blue because she always shows her emotion, she always helps her students when they need help. Mrs. P is a Gold, because she's OCD, wants everything perfect. She's very dependable. One of my friends Taylor would be more of a blue, because she always shows her emotion, but also an orange, because she's always hyper all of the time, and also a gold because she wants everything perfect, and she's OCD.

Business, Management and Administration

The cluster we did yesterday was Business, Management and Administration. The two careers I chose were a Computer and Information Systems manager, and a Business Teachers Post-secondary.  The one that seems the most interesting to me is a Business Teacher. They teach courses in business, and management, such as accounting, finance, and human resources. They have to know a lot psychology (the study of human minds) and anthropology (the study of humankind). They have to know a lot of math considering it's accounting. The teachers have to make the work where the people will understand, a way of teaching. They have to listen to the students questions, and come up with good answers. Also, to get this job they need to go to graduate school, and get a bachelors degree. They may also need to do some student teaching, just so they know what they jobs like. My other career is a Computer and Information Systems Managers; for this job you need to plan, direct, or coordinate activities in such fields electronic data processing, information systems, and computer programming. The skills you need for this job are; Telecommunications, economics and accounting, active listening and critical thinking. You need a bachelors degree for this job.

My Style

Mr. Boyars had us do a test to see what kind of learner we are. There was a visual, active listening, and a tactile learning. My results said that I'm more of a tactile learner. Which mean I like to do hands-on actives because it helps me learn better, and I better understand the material. It impacts my learning, if teachers taught with more hands on things, then I'd probably have better grades than I do now. If it's a hands on activity then my brain connections more to that, then if I were to just take notes. It would make this easier, because I'd pay attention more, because I find hands on actives interesting. Also, it's easier for me to remember.
